Journey delayed
Well my original plan to fight in the 50th Crown Tournament didn't come to fruition. There were several factors involved, but basically, I wasn't ready, and my heart wasn't in it.
I still plan on fighting in Crown, and eventually winning it. It's just that my priorities haven't been in the SCA camp recently. I think I need to take a break and decompress from things.

At least some Moonie got it.

Clothing Goals Revisited
How's the clothing goal going? Have you stuck with it? Are you needing help?
My Two Cents...
Having a plan is wonderful, but we all have to take into consideration that plans sometimes have sidetracks and detours. This just happens to be one of yours and since you don't want to go half-assed in your attempt at Crown, my opinion is thus... Change the plan.
It can go in many directions, but the end goal should still be the same: Fight in Crown. Whether you fight in Crown this year or next, you do need to set a goal for a certain date, so you don't sidetrack yourself and never do it, BUT circumstances need to be right in key areas.
Fight for someone you want to have as your consort for many many moons in a short period of time. That being said, I have heard it said from those that have fought and won Crown in the past: Go one way or the other. In other words, fight for your spouse or fight for someone you have no romantic interest in whatsoever. Fighting for a girlfriend or boyfriend will put an unneeded strain on a relationship. With a spouse (unless, of course, you don't have a strong spousal relationship), you're in for the long haul in either case and they should already have a good idea how you'll react or won't in most given situations. With a friend, they may not have the knowledge of what you'll do or won't do all the time, but they won't be concerned about whether or not you're doing something "because of them romantically".
Enjoy yourself! Isn't that the whole point of all this anyway? If you're not having fun with the idea of fighting in Crown *right now* or are not comfortable with the situation, what's the point? I know. I can already hear it. "Well, what if I'm never quite comfortable?" Then why are you considering Crown again? A little discomfort is likely nerves - you know, dealing with the unknown. If there is a lot of discomfort, then I say don't do it.
Sum total: I know you want to fight in Crown 'someday'. I know circumstances for doing so aren't the most ideal 'right now'. Just don't let 'someday' never become 'right now'. Find the circumstances you're willing to fight with and go for it!

Finding a Consort
When I started down this path, I did not have a specific consort lined up. Since I was not seeing anyone, I had a few ideas of friends I could ask who I'd be comfortable with and think would do a good job. But I had put off asking them until it was more appropriate. Then life throws me a curve ball. A very lovely curve ball.
When I started this, I didn't have a Lady, now with some amazing luck, I do. Here is the dilemma. I would want to sit on the throne with her, but she is new to the SCA, joining last summer. We've talked, and she even has said she doesn't want to be Queen right now cause she is still new. But I don't feel comfortable fighting for anyone else right now since my heart and sword belong to her.
The dilemma is do I bow out of fighting this time and wait until she is ready, or stay the path I've chosen and fight for someone else? To make things more complicated, she has said she doesn't want me to quit because of her not being ready. But I don't see it as quitting, but just postponing. I don't know if I could fight for anyone else anyway. I probably could for a really close friend, but that limits my previous options. Plus, anyone else I fight for, my Lady would have to approve of and be comfortable with.
So, for those who might read this, what do you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. What would you do?

My new blog...
I have created a new blog and will hopefully keep it up to date. It will act like a journal of my stuff in the SCA as I tackle projects, including getting ready for Crown. If you are interested, check it out here, or there is a link on the side of the page.
I will also be updating this blog shortly. Just too many irons in the fire right now, not enough time for all of them.
